After a few months of marathon training, here is what I have learnt – you can do anything, if it sets your soul on fire (I live on quotes).

I watch a lot of athletics, triathlons, you name it but what I love is watching documentaries about the people who do these amazing things. In the end they are just like me and you but they have decided to work hard at their craft (and some natural talent). When you watch the London marathon coverage most people are well out of their comfort zone, some people training for the marathon is the first running they have ever done, listening to their stories, cheering them on as they push through the wall (when your body essentially start failing when you have been running for a while basically your body just wants out) – I am inspired to try and push myself to see what I can do.

So here we are 3 months into my marathon training and I have learnt that when you are two hours into a run or sometimes even the first steps into a run, the only thing that will get you through is the reason why you are doing it. If that isn’t strong enough or inspiring enough to you, then failure is inevitable.

I make a lot of lists and high on my 30 before 30 list is to complete a marathon. No matter how slow I do it – training and running a marathon is hard; mentally and physically focused – being able to trust that you can do things that seem impossible/crazy. Anything you want to do, just take the first step and go from there.

I am now entering the last month of training where I will be completing my long runs in the range of 18 – 22 miles (29 – 35kms). To be honest I am just excited to show myself that I can do it, the idea of finishing 26.2 miles excites me. A few years ago running 3 miles (5km) was the dream.

It’s not supposed to be easy. Pick your lane & be the hardest worker in the room – Robin Arzon.

Is there something you have always wanted to do? Go get it.
